Frequently Asked Questions
We support importing SRT, ASS, SSA, WebVTT (.vtt), MicroDVD (.sub), SAMI (.smi), MPL2, LRC, and TTML/DFXP formats. You can export to SRT, ASS, WebVTT, TTML, and LRC formats. Note that bitmap-based subtitle formats (VobSub, PGS, DVD subtitles) are not supported as they require OCR processing.
Yes, the maximum file size is 50 MB. Most subtitle files are well under 1 MB, so this limit is more than sufficient for virtually any subtitle file you might encounter.
Yes. The ASS format supports rich styling including fonts, colors, positioning, and effects that the SRT format cannot represent. When converting from ASS to SRT (or VTT), only the plain text content and timing information are preserved. All style information will be stripped. If you need to keep the styling, consider converting to another ASS file or using the ASS format as your output.
Uploaded files and conversion results are stored temporarily on the server for download purposes. All files are automatically and permanently deleted within 30 minutes. We do not keep, share, or analyze your subtitle files in any way.
Absolutely! When you select ASS as the target format, a style editor panel appears where you can customize the font family, font size, primary color, outline color, shadow color, bold/italic/underline, border style, outline width, shadow depth, text alignment (9-position grid), and margins. A live preview shows you approximately how your subtitles will look.
SRT (SubRip) is the most widely compatible format — simple text with timestamps. Works almost everywhere but has no styling support. ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) supports rich formatting including fonts, colors, positioning, animations, and effects — popular in anime fansubs and advanced subtitle work. VTT (WebVTT) is the web standard for HTML5 video players, supporting basic styling and positioning for browser-based playback.
